Melancholia

melancholia

There is some melancholia about him
That everyone sees.
He walks,upright yet downcast,
He smiles, with his lips
His eyes however scream
for freedom.
He says “yes”, and he means it
does his job
everyday, doing what is expected of
him, but this tires him.
It is not
what he really wants.
He knows what he wants,
but he can not do it.

There is some melancholia about him
That everyone sees.
And no one can help him.
His circumstances are fortunate,
he lacks nothing :

He has love,
and lots of it; and he has money,
and he has a job, and he is
respected.
What else could he ask for?

Still, there is some melancholia about him
that everyone sees.
The lugubriousness that is felt
when one gave up on his dreams.
Dreams are for the young
But shouldn’t the young follow
their dreams while
they still can?

Can he still follow his dreams?

There is some melancholia about him
that everyone sees.
All because he lives a life
so good, it would seem
too greedy,
and selfish,
and stupid
to give it all up
for something he loves.
